Prez aka Empress Joanne
Our June Moon Run will be Thursday, June 20. Since the days are getting longer, we will start at 7 pm.
We will meet at Tommy Nevins Pub, 9680 Lincolnway Lane, Frankfort.  Nevins is just east of LaGrange Road, north of LincolnWay EAST HS.
We have a 2 mile out/2 mile back run along Colorado Ave and Ironwood Drive, through the picturesque neighborhoods of Frankfort.
I made a reservation for a large group on their patio -Â so hopefully, warm weather cooperates.
See you then.
Frankfort runs begin at the parking lot on White St and the park that contains The Grainery. You can see it from Lagrange. We start at 7 am unless you have some long mileage to do. Please run with friends if at all possible. This trail is heavily used so there will always be a variety of footed, wheeled and otherwise motating occupants vying for space. Practice random acts of kindness y’all.
Rich Kaz will be putting water out at Schoolhouse but always carry anyway.
Your website was constructed using WordPress. They have extensive instructions about how to use WordPress on the WordPress codex, but one of the most-often asked questions is about inserting images into new/existing posts. You can find the section of the codex that explains how to add images here:Â http://codex.wordpress.org/Inserting_Images_into_Posts_and_Pages. Their explanation is the best that I could find. If you still have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
When you create a new post and you want the post to show up on the home page of the Park Forest Running and Pancake Club’s website, there are a couple of things you need to remember. You create the post by clicking on the “+ New” button on the dark grey bar at the top of your screen and selecting “Post”. You need to create a title and some (meaningful) content. Before you click the blue “Publish” button to the right, select the “News” Category and then scroll down a bit until you see the section labeled “Featured Image”. This is where you select the photo that will show up in the banner on the home page! As long as the photo is 756 x 250 pixels, the photo should fit nicely. If it is not set at this size (or double or triple that), it will appear distorted or stretched in an odd way. You can crop photos to that size in the Media Manager that comes up when you click on “Set Featured Image”.
Robin is constantly tweaking the site to make it fun to visit. Right now you can put a picture with your post and it rolls across the top of the front page. Still working on sizing that but it does show that we work on the site every day. So if you have pertinent information that you want everyone to see – not just those who follow us on facebook or yahoo groups, this is the place to put it.
Glen has been running marathons since 2004 and has begun doing Triathlons as well. An active member of the PFRPC, Glen is also on the club board and a frequent volunteer primarily operating our club’s time clock at other races.
Glen began his first training with the PFRPC under Joe “mom” Baska and loves going on road trips to out of town marathons. He is famous for his willingness to share a room – even if it is with all females. “Somebody’s gotta do it.”
Triathlon training involves three times per week since there are three sports involved.
We swim at least once a week – your club or Lake Michigan, weather permitted.
We ride all year, outside if possible or on trainers indoor.
We run all year except on ice.
Contact Liz for individual information.
Established in 1978, the Park Forest Running and Pancake Club (PFRPC) is based in the South Suburbs of Chicago. While the club originated in the far south community of Park Forest, today our members come from more than 25 different communities throughout metropolitan Chicago, as well as Northwest Indiana.
Far from a fair-weather organization, the PFRPC is active all year long — rain or shine, snow or sleet, heat or humidity — sponsoring races, weekend recreational runs, speed workouts, training runs, Moon Runs, road trips and just plain social get-togethers. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a walker, 12-minute miler or a world class runner (we have them all in the club), all are welcomed by the PFRPC.
Whether it’s a 14 minute mile, or a 7 minute mile — it’s still a mile

What is a Moon Run?
Generally, a Moon Run is just an excuse for our club to gather socially – oh, and to run of course. The runs are held monthly, generally on the Thursday evening closest to the full moon. Come howl at the moon with us. Of course, every Moon Run ends with a social gathering. (Webmaster’s Note: We might be a little crazy but we aren’t nuts – we don’t hold Moon Runs during the cold, dark winter months!)
Locations vary, but here are a few of our favorite starting points:
|Old Plank Trail – Frankfort By Grainery Tower off Rt. 45 & Rt. 30 in downtown Frankfort.||Tinley Park – Aurelio’s Pizza SE corner of 159th & Oak Park Ave 15901 Oak Park Ave., Tinley Park, IL 60477
Phone: (708) 429-4600
|Park Forest – Off Chestnut Ave. Chestnut: north of Sauk Trail, on the right heading north. Heading South: last left before Sauk.|
