How to get a picture on the header

October 26, 2013 in FAQs, How Do I..., News by Liz Vander Velde

When you create a new post and you want the post to show up on the home page of the Park Forest Running and Pancake Club’s website, there are a couple of things you need to remember. You create the post by clicking on the “+ New” button on the dark grey bar at the top of your screen and selecting “Post”. You need to create a title and some (meaningful) content. Before you click the blue “Publish” button to the right, select the “News” Category and then scroll down a bit until you see the section labeled “Featured Image”. This is where you select the photo that will show up in the banner on the home page! As long as the photo is 756 x 250 pixels, the photo should fit nicely. If it is not set at this size (or double or triple that), it will appear distorted or stretched in an odd way. You can crop photos to that size in the Media Manager that comes up when you click on “Set Featured Image”.

Pancakers!  You and your family are invited to attend the PFRPC September Membership Meeting on Sunday, September 29 at 1:00PM. Joe “Mom” Baska and his lovely bride, Deb, are hosting the PFRPC family. We’ll have our regular meeting followed by Fun in the Sun, kibitzing, camaraderie and general catching up with all things pancake. We’ll be right on the Kankakee River so feel free to dress accordingly (can’t say you would want to SWIM in the river, but dipping your toes is a definite option and Perhaps there will a canoe or kayak available!). RSVP to Joanne so we have some semblance of a head count, as the Club will supply the eats and soft drinks (anything stronger is BYOB!).

IT’S TIME to Volunteer for the FAMOUS Mile 25 – Station 20 Water Stop of the 2013 Chicago Marathon!! Why volunteer? If you’ve ever run a race, you know that volunteers are The Reason you CAN run in the race! Without them…no race (although, you wouldn’t have had to get up at the crack of dawn either…jsut sayin’).Give a little of your time back to the race community and have a blast while you’re at it. Our water stop rewards our volunteers with a pancake and sausage breakfast AND a brats/dogs lunch (or whatever the BratMaster decides to grill up!). Registered volunteers receive a Marathon hat and jacket too! Click the link/Share the link/Volunteer!!

Turtle Ten Wrap Up

September 4, 2013 in News, Turtle Ten Miler by Liz Vander Velde

To All My Children

Thanks to the club for another successful Turtle Ten. 84 signups and 72 finishers and lots of people saying that they hope that we do it again next year.

Special Thanks go to:

John the trophy king. Five more years and he might get his basement back.

Glenn for making the clock happen.

Judge Ray for doing lots of everything, as always.

Chrissie for keeping registration straight.

Nadine and Art for doing the second water stop and not necking in front of the runners, the two lovebirds.

Deborah Lyn for the first water stop and lots of other things to keep us running.

Frogger for the course layout, marking and running well.

And especially Ted who set up, cooked, and put up with me all morning.

If you helped and I forgot you, punch me in the arm next time I see you and thanks for all you did.

Turtle Ten News

June 21, 2013 in News, Turtle Ten Miler by Liz Vander Velde

To all my children;
It is that time of the year again to start getting the word out about our non-race race the Turtle Ten.  Below is all of the information and it is in a one sheet format as an attachment in Word.
So pass it on, Tweet it, twit it, face book it.  Post it on your frig. Give it to friends, enemies, acquaintances, and total strangers.  Get it up at you health club and your local bar (more likely knowing this club).  In other words get it around.
New this year will be the option for club singlets.  Beautiful technical running shirts that will get you noticed wherever you wear them.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.
mom
PS.  I will send out a request for volunteers in early August
