Welcome to Park Forest Running & Pancake Club

Established in 1978, the Park Forest Running and Pancake Club (PFRPC) is based in the South Suburbs of Chicago. While the club originated in the far south community of Park Forest, today our members come from more than 25 different communities throughout metropolitan Chicago, as well as Northwest Indiana.

Far from a fair-weather organization, the PFRPC is active all year long -- rain or shine, snow or sleet, heat or humidity -- sponsoring races, weekend recreational runs, speed workouts, training runs, Moon Runs, road trips and just plain social get-togethers. It doesn't matter whether you're a walker, 12-minute miler or a world class runner (we have them all in the club), all are welcomed by the PFRPC.

Mission Statement

The Park Forest Running and Pancake Club is a group dedicated to fitness through running, fun, and friendship. We welcome and actively include runners and walkers of all speeds and levels. In order to accomplish this we run together, provide each other with encouragement, and help each other achieve our running and fitness goals.

Note from the Prez

Pancakers:

I just wanted to clarify for all our members what us old-timers mean when we refer to Saturday runs at the 'Grainery' in Frankfort. The 'Grainery' in Frankfort refers to us meeting at the Fox Lumber Co. parking lot in Frankfort at 1 South White Street. Please plug that address into your Yahoo Map or Mapquest search engine for directions.

Please note that we will continue to meet on Saturdays at the Granary at 8:00 AM in December and January.

On Sundays, we meet at 8:00 AM at Schubert Woods off of Chestnut St. Best way to get there is off of Western. Chestnut is a few streets north of Sauk Trail. If approaching Chestnut from the north and traveling south, take a left off of Western and continue going past the school to the entrance to the Woods.

Let me know if you have any questions. Stay warm all........

PFRPC Running News

  • Try the USA Track & Field's America's Running Routes site to plan your next run or walk. The site allows runners to map and measure favorite running routes, and then save them to what they claim is "the largest searchable database of running routes in the country." The site even pinpoints mile markers for you. Click on the map where you want to start your run, and then click along the route you intend to run. Your first click shows "Start," and every click thereafter indicates "Finish." Simply keep clicking until you have completely traced the routes you intend to run, and then print or save your final map.

Yahoo! groupsHave you taken photographs of club members you would like to share with the club? Perhaps that's the wrong question to ask. Let's see, if you have taken photographs from any of our club events, please share them with the club at Yahoo! Groups. If you are a member of our Yahoo! groups, you can create an account at Yahoo! that will allow you to create a photo album and upload photographs for group members to view. This service is free, and there is no limit to the number of photographs you can place on the site. If you need special instructions, please contact our web master. Any photographs placed on the site may be used by the club either on the web site or in the club newsletter.

We've added an online photo gallery. The gallery currently features images from the Scenic 10, taken at the 2 mile mark. The gallery opens in a new browser window. Enjoy.
